Tony Weston is a senior executive with extensive international experience in a wide range of corporations across retail, manufacturing, gaming, hospitality, transport and logistics, telecommunications and finance industries. He has carved a very strong reputation in leading business transformations and turnarounds.
With a background in human resource management, Tony is regarded as a commercially astute business leader with a legacy of driving strong, bottom line performance improvement. Over the course of the last 20 years, Tony has played key leadership roles in the establishment of the world’s largest premium wine company, now known as Treasury Wine Estates and the successful turnarounds of both the Kmart and Aristocrat businesses - all Australian owned businesses with a strong international presence and all renowned as significant transformation success stories. He has also held senior HR and transformation roles in the National Australia Bank (NAB), Telstra and in the David Jones & The Country Road Group.
As the Executive General Manager of Organisational Transformation at NAB, Tony successfully lead significant organisational and cultural change initiatives. Prior to joining NAB, Tony lead the integration of the David Jones and Country Road Group businesses which also included the co-location of those businesses to Melbourne. Whilst at Telstra between 2012-2016, Tony was tasked with building the organisation’s new operational organisation for the ‘post NBN world’. This meant reshaping and building thousands of roles across the enterprise, both directly and via their partner networks. In addition, Tony also had responsibility for building Telstra’s long term strategic workforce planning activities and a new labour planning, procurement and deployment framework for its permanent and contingent workforces.
Tony has also held senior executive HR roles within Wesfarmers Limited, Foster’s Group Limited and Mayne Nickless Limited. Whilst at Wesfarmers, Tony was the head of HR for the Kmart business during the initial stages of its renowned and very successful turnaround.
Having lived and worked in the United States and worked extensively across Europe and the Asia Pacific region in a variety of roles, Tony is a well credentialed international executive.
A native of Melbourne Australia, Tony holds a Bachelor of Business Degree in Human Resource Management from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.
